Mind-blowing
GEORGE TOWN: A jobless mother of five, who owed six months rental on their Sungai Pinang low cost flat here, feared of being evicted.

G. Rajalakshmi, 31, who owed RM612 in rental and electricity bill, said she was struggling to make ends meet after her husband left them early this year.

Now her desperation worsened after they received the eviction order from the management corporation.

When met at her home yesterday, Rajalakshmi said she was depending on charity to feed her children aged between 1 and 11.

When her milk ran out, she had to feed her year old baby with sugar water or plain rice.

Four of her children M. Daishnavi, M. Shamani, M. Vishallini and M. Kesavan had to depend on handouts fro good Samaritans to survive.

"We ate plain rice porridge and I am not ashamed to admit that my children often had to beg for food from our neighbours and strangers.

"We had to live on handouts as I have no other avenues to turn to but now we faced the prospect of being homeless," she said. -New Straits Times
