Mind-blowing
GEORGE TOWN: An Indonesian, wanted by police for various crimes, was shot dead after he opened fire at police near Paya Terubong here.
The suspect, 39, fled from a crime prevention road block in Relau at 2am yesterday.
State CID chief SAC Zahruddin Abdullah said that police had stopped the suspect’s car to check his identity and his heavily-modified car but he refused to cooperate and sped off.
“Police then gave chase and exchanged fire for a few kilometres.
The car then stalled by the roadside 200m away from the traffic light and that was when police found that the suspect was hit during the shooting,” SAC Zahruddin said.

SAC Zahruddin added that the suspect, who stayed in a condominium in Bukit Jambul, also had a MyKad which was believed to be fake.
