Mind-blowing
KOTA KINABALU: An attempt by City Hall to remove a billboard at the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) headquarters in Luyang here has created quite a stir.
SAPP officials and Kota Kinabalu City Hall enforcement authorities got into an argument at 10.30am yesterday over the legality of the billboard which advertised SAPP’s Internet television channel and featured the words “Bersih, Berani, Benar”.
The billboard, which has been up for several years but repainted recently, was covered with a piece of yellow cloth.
SAPP president Datuk Yong Teck Lee later launched the Internet television at the party headquarters at 1.30pm.
City Hall enforcement officers wanted to remove the signboard, deeming it illegal.
However, SAPP officials, including Luyang assemblyman Melanie Chia, said the signboard was on the party premises and not an advertising material.
The officers then deferred the plan and are awaiting instructions from the authorities.
