Mind-blowing
Luckily, most recover quickly with little impact on users.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission yesterday confirmed attempts were indeed made to hack into 51 government websites, including its own.

The attacks began about 11.30pm on Wednesday and 41 of the websites experiences various levels of disruption.

"However, we do not expect the overall recovery to these websites to take long as most websites have already recovered from the attacks," the commission said in a statement.

MCMC said it had monitored the situation and the level of attacks was reduced within hours and had left little impact on Malaysian users.

Its Network Security Centre has been making concerted efforts to mitigate the attacks round the clock. It will continue to work with other enforcement agencies and security experts as well service providers to monitor the situation.

The public have been advised to report any information they may have on the identity of these hackers. -New Straits Times
